The second Shirelles album release (after Tonight"s The Night), Sing To Trumpets And Strings continued the group"s distinctive sound, with Mama Said and What A Sweet Thing That Was becoming modest chart hits. Whilst the title might imply the album was a collection of standards, there was plenty of new material coming from the in-house writing team at Scepter, even if three of the tracks would be covered by other artists on the roster.
