Nomadak Tx, is the soundtrack of the award winning doucumentary of teh same name, in which the Basque duo known as Oreka Tx traveled to several different countries, collaborating with other artists on a largely obscure native instrument, the txalaparta. Nearly extinct by the 1950"s, the txalaparta (pronounced roughly "tchala-parta"), is a member of the idiophone family and has been revived recently, thanks in part to Oreka Tx"s work. The film chronilces the artists" adventures and musical collaborations in India, Lapland, Mongolia and the Sahara, and is coming soon to theaters worldwide, having won multiple awards at international film festivals. The album is a perfect companion to the film, featuring teh compelling sounds of the txalaparta, which consist of complex, lightning-fast patterns struck upon wooden planks by the artists with think wooden pestle-like sticks.
