After co-producing with legendary producers Kyle Lehning, George Massenburg, Paul Worley, and Kim McLean at Sony/Columbia, Robin was ready to get in the driver"s seat again on this, her sophomore project. She produced and co-produced this album and also wrote or co-wrote twelve of the thirteen songs on it. In addition to singing the lead vocals, she contributed her talents on acoustic guitar, harmonica, percussion, and background vocals. She recorded the project in Nashville and Texas with her band and with many of her favorite A-list studio players. With so many gems on this rangy album, it"s hard to pick the highlights. "I"m The One" is an aching, heartbreak ballad that feels like a classic the first time you hear it. "Cotton Field Girl" is a true story about Robin"s grandmother and her tough Texas survivalist heritage that she passed down to Robin. From coy, flirtatious love in "Wake Up Loving You" and "Baby, You"re The Man", to well-crafted works of art like "Lion and The Lamb" and "Mission Of Mercy," the listener is guaranteed to be taken through a range of emotion as they are transported by the conviction of Robin"s amazing voice. There"s also a thought-provoking rewrite of an Ed and Patsy Bruce"s classic. A real crowd pleaser at live shows, "Mama"s Don"t Let Your Cowboys Grow Up To Be Babies," says what just about every woman feels about their men. Overall, the range of songs on this CD showcases the talents of one of the most compelling and entertaining artists in Country Music today.
