Chants et Danses Baroques de l Amazonie explores the mysteries of artistic creation and transmission behind the ceremonies of the young Moxeno Indians of eastern Bolivia. These guardians of an archive of Baroque music, which they collected on their voyages up the river Mamoré, maintain a centuries-old tradition the music born in Jesuit missions of Amazonia, which was until recently thought to be entirely the work of the Italian composer Domenico Zipoli. Raquel Maldonado leads Ensamble Moxos in a collection of Baroque sonatas and sacred music from the Amazon region.
