Little Frog
The eponymous Little Frog spends his days hopping around, quite unnoticed by the busy and important-seeming jungle animals. One day, however, Little Frog finds a golden crown in the grass. He wears it and the other animals are curious and ask him where he got it. To each animal, Little Frog tells a different, and increasingly outrageous, tale until finally he tells Lion that he had croaked so loudly that he had blown off the Leopard"s spots, and so all the other creatures had said that Little Frog should be King of the Jungle, and crowned. This makes the Lion laugh loudly, and he tells the other animals. So, now they know that Little Frog"s tales are not true, but they all enjoyed them so much that each evening he is in demand to tell them a bedtime story. Little Frog is a funny story, written in a lively style, in which Little Frog"s story-telling talent is rewarded. Each page is a very colourful picture in the style of a children"s cut-out collage, and the print mimics children"s handwriting. Ages 6 to 8 will enjoy this charming tale.--Alison Jardine
