Posidippo di Pella. Epigrammi (P. Mil. Vogl. VIII 309). Con 2 CD-ROM.
The 600 lines of this 3rd-century B.C. papyrus bring back to life a hundred or so epigrams by the celebrated ancient Greek poet Posidippus of Pella, whose work was known to us hitherto only through a few surviving verses. This edition of the text includes a full-size colour reproduction of the original papyrus as well as infrared plates of the sixteen separate columns. These have been obtained through digital imaging by means of state-of-the-art optical equipment. The digital images, in two CDs accompanying the volume, may be viewed on a normal computer screen (Macintosh or PC). The colour image shows the papyrus in its present condition while the infrared images are high resolution recordings that can be enlarged up to twenty times without loss of focus. For the first time the readers have at their disposal a reproduction combining the advantages of infrared examination and enlargement by means of a microscope.
