Invisible Horses
Much has been written in poetry about the body, but in Invisible Horses, body becomes the poetry, and we are urged by the poet to exalt in it. In "Recipe" the body exists like a machine, the spirit anchored within. What saves us from the weight of physicality is our ability to turn thoughts inward, to become like a thought. In "Because my Mother Was Deaf She Played the Piano," the body itself becomes the vehicle for sound, for music"s expression. In Patricia Goedicke"s poetry, the body boldly speaks its lines.
