West Bromwich Albion 1954 FA CUP Final [UK Import]
What a season 1953/54 had been for West Bromwich Albion. Finishing runners-up in the elite division, it was the Baggies best Post War finish, and an FA Cup Final trip to Wembley to take on a Preston North End team boasting household names such as Tom Finney and Tommy Docherty completed the spectacle. The Baggies, led by manager Vic Buckingham and skipper Len Millard took to the field as favourites following their impressive league exploits, but the teams were closely matched so those expecting an openly fought game were not disappointed. West Brom took the lead through star man Ronnie Allen but the Lilywhites hit back with two unanswered goals to give them the advantage going into the final third of the game. But Albion had not given up hope as a second goal from Allen and another in the closing minutes from Frank Griffin sealed a dramatic victory and sent the Baggie fans into delirium. For the first time on DVD relive the full 90 minutes of this dramatic cup final in which West Bromwich Albion overturned Preston North End to bring the trophy to back to the Hawthorns.
