Peter Dobereiner--who died in 1996 aged 70--was the golf correspondent of the Observer and the Guardian for many years. In addition, he was consultant to Golf World and contributing editor of Golf Digest, and wrote a good number of books on golf. Dobereiner was a much-loved personality throughout the golf world and was widely recognised as one of the greatest golf writers.
