Algarde Heat Mats are substrate heaters which work by warming up the objects and animals within their effective range. They are great for creating a localised warm area and allowing you to create a heat gradient within a small terrarium or vivarium without overheating the whole enclosure. Algarde Heat Mats can be placed outside a glass terrarium or inside a wooden vivarium. If using inside an enclosure do not cover with a thick layer of heavy substrate and ensure it is taped down to prevent your reptile getting under it. The Heat mat should only cover between a half and a third of the tank area. A Mat Stat or similar thermostat is always recommended.Suitable for: Most vivariums and terrariums Most species (except chameleons, who cannot sense heat from underneath) Only use low wattages for Bearded Dragons
