Strathisla - 12 years old Pure Highland Malt Scotch Whisky, 43% Vol. At Strathisla, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, they have been distilling fine malt whisky since 1708. Little has changed over the centuries; this is still a craft, not an industry, and the fact shows in the quality of the whisky itself. Fresh water from the spring, lightly peated barley malt, are the only ingredients. Strathisla has been described by an expert as "very smooth, long, soothing". One of the finest examples of the distinctive single malts for which Speyside region is justly famous. -- Nose: Rich and fruity, with a complex array of hay-like aromas balanced with a dry oakiness - Taste: Full, fruity and hay-like flavours, with a mellow nutty sweetness - Finish: Rich and mellow.
